Can salicylic acid be in Cetomacrogol creme TMFondanks phenol group?

Salicylic acid should not be in Cetomacrogol Creme TMF according to trainee for the sake of phenol group, but is found well in list of ACA and Pannoc: How do I explain that?

Answer

Incompatibilities are not always predictable. The quantities and conditions play an important role.   You do not write which Cetomacrogol cream from the TMF you use: The buffered or the unbuffered? If you use the buffered, a part of the salicylic acid will be converted into salicylate.     I also don't know which Cetomacrogol cream ACA and Pannoc have used in their trials. You can ask them the question:   1. The concentration of salicylic acid and 2. The composition of the tested Cetomacrogol cream.

is conclusive about whether or not it can be made compatible by testing.
