Posted on: May 13 2016A compound for a narcotic ointment for permanent makeup of the eyelids at Lidocaine allergy
A patient of mine reacted allergic to the narcotic ointment in preparation for permanent makeup of the eyelids.
However, a further refresher session is planned and she asked me for an alternative.
Could be used benzocaine (maybe no cross allergy to an ester) and evt first to try a small piece of skin in advance.
In What basis would I do that best? Petroleum jelly with a little liquid paraffin?
Answer
I see three possibilities, which will have to be tested beforehand on their efficacy.
1. Benzocaine Anaesthetic Gel: benzoin 2 G; Carbopol 2 G, alcohol 90 g and water 6 g
2. Benzocaine 5 G, propylene glycol in +/- 3 ml and add a clean white petroleum jelly to 100 g
3. Benzocaine 5 G, chlorbutanol 5 G, prpoyleenglycol 5 ml and gradually add white Vaseline to 100 g
