A gel with fluphenamic acid and indomethacin.

We are regularly given a prescription in the pharmacy with a combination of fluphenamic acid (1g) and indomethacin (0.5 g) to be processed in Carbopolgel up to 50g.
currently we are making the gel in the following way:
    dissolve
  1. fluphenamic acid and indomethacin in a mixture of isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, and polyethyleneglycol (AA 2.5 g)
  2. 17g Carbomeergel 1% weigh
  3. 20g Carbomeergel 2% weigh
  4. 3 and 2 Add to solution and mix up a homogeneous mixture.
  5. pH Control and EVT. Add NaOH to bring the pH to 6.5
The question is whether there is no simpler method to prepare this gel. Can we use the Klucelgel that we now use for the preparation of the fluphenamines acid gel?

Answer

The chosen pH seems to me somewhat on the high side. 5.5 to 5.8 would be better. I would suggest to leave the modus operandi described in question: ' How do I prepare a stable indomethacin 1% gel that does not discolour? ', which is used for the preparation of indomethacin gel. A combination of Carbopol and Klucelgel is used; This is to make the stickies of the Klucelgel. I suspect that some adaptation of the composition may be necessary.
