Question
Posted on: March 6 2013An ointment or cream for cephalosporin.
I was asked by a veterinarian whether it was possible to make an ointment or creme with a cephalosporin as there is no specialty on the market. On a Dutch site of pharmacists I found back that it can be used externally in creams and in lotions but I can't find a formula anywhere. It is about a dog with an inflammation to the owners and that germ is apparently only susceptible to cephalosporins.
Answer
I would opt for a water-free fatty ointment based on petroleum jelly and liquid paraffin, as described in the TMF.
