In a prescription of a dermatologist, a cationic cream with cetrimide is used. Which cream can we use for this?

Answer

This cream uses the bactericidal as well as the emulsifying properties of Cetrimide. We propose this cream a self-emulsifying wax together analogous to Lanette N (cetostearyl alcohol emulsifying A) consisting of Cetrimide 1 part and cetostearyl alcohol 9 parts. This was then processed together with liquid paraffin and Vaseline to Unguentum Emuslificans Cetrimidi. Using this water-absorbing ointment, the cream is prepared in the next step. These different steps are clearly described in the booklet Galenic formulary in the chapters water-absorbing ointments and hydrogels/A. Pressurized hydrogels or O/W creams.
