There is the possibility to make a loco preparation for Zalvor cream, which is used in the hospitals in the scabies epidemic but is financially a real bloodletting.

Answer

The preferred preparation in the treatment of Scabiës is Permethrin 5% (Zalvor cream). The product must be 8 to 12 hours in operation. Permethrine is not spotty, has no disturbing odor and is safe. Also for infants from 2 months, for pregnant women and for elderly. A disadvantage is the price of 13.49 euros per tube of 30 g. Magijet can be made following formula: Permethrin 20% solution in Piperonyl butoxide 25 g, Cetomacrogol emulsifying was 15 g, Vaseline 15 g and Aqua Conservans AD 100 g. The price of this preparation is 14 Eu Ro, there is no intervention of the health insurance Fund but for the same cost one obtains and triple quantity. An alternative is the malathion 0.5% (Magistraal R/Malathion 200 mg-Unguens Refrigerans AD 40 gram). Malathion is extremely effective and patient friendly. 24 hours of operation is sufficient. A disadvantage is that it is a toxic and environmentally unfriendly product. It is also unsuitable for children under 5 years of age, pregnant women and breastfeeding women, people with low body weight, epilepsy and pre-existing generalized skin abnormalities (such as ichtyosis and enlarged eczema). The treatment is repeated after a few days. One dose of this magistal preparation costs about 8 euros, packaging not included, and is not refunded by the health insurance Fund. Malathion may be treated for a maximum of two times. Malathion lotions are unsuitable for the treatment of Scabiës. After treatment, the product should be washed away with soap and water.

A second possibility is Benzyl benzoate (magijet R/benzyl benzoate 25%-light liquid paraffin 25 g-emulsifying was 2g, aqua up to 100ml or R/benzyl benzoate 20-25%-Carbopol 980 2g, TRIS 2g, Aqua Conservans up to 100 g). However, this is a very sticky good with a very unpleasant smell that burns in open scratching wounds and is sometimes difficult to tolerate (dermatitis). It only kills mites but no eggs. Well the product is cheap. The lotion costs about 9 euros, the gel 14 euros. It is the preferred therapy for infants but then two-to three times diluted. Benzyl benzoate should remain on the skin for 24 hours, after which the treatment is repeated twice with 24 hours in between. The body should only be washed after another 24 hours. If necessary, this procedure is repeated after five days. There are no contraindications.
