Posted on: March 6 2013There is a problem with the following preparation: neomycin sulfate Solumedrol LidocaineHCl nystatin oral suspension water
In the past this preparation was already made often, but without the neomycin. Now, when adding nystatin of, a heavy yellow precipitate is created. Also the above liquid is yellowish.
do you have an idea what can be the basis of the incompatibility?

Answer
When I overflow the composition of the specialties I suspect that there may be two incompatibilities in this composition.
- Interaction neomycin sulfate with after saccharin
- neomycin sulfate with after CMC
I have more terror from the first but I'm not one hundred percent sure that two doesn't get in! To solve the case I would work with a loco nystatin oral suspension without saccharin (more sugar or sorbitol) and without CMC but with e.g. Hydroxyethylcellulose (Natrosol).
