Can the new Carbomer gel of the TMF be used to prepare benzoyl oxide gel?

The new Carbomeergel of the TMF is now neutralized with Trometamol. For the preparation of a good benzoyl peroxide gel this had to be done with a gel based on NaOH (since triethanolamine with benzoyl oxide gives the formation of an unstable kwaternair hydroxylamine derivative). Trometamol has a deviating structure of triethanolamine (it is not a derivative of a trialkylamine, but a substituted methane amine). The question now is whether the preparation of benzoyl peroxide gel with Carbomer gel TMF can happen or should be opted for a gel based on NaOH?

Answer

According to our experiences, TRIS or trometamol does not give any problems with benzoyl peroxide. A gel with benzoyl peroxide comes into the TMF and the tests have a good stability shown.
