Diprolene Ointment 30 g, Vaseline 30 g. is one used here for Diprolene the same ointment base as for Diprosone or another?

Diprosone is replaced by Betamethasone-Diproprionate 19.2 mg, liquid paraffin 7 g, white Vaseline ad 30 g.

Answer

The replacement you propose is obviously not a good approach when we run into the formula of Diprolene. Besides it contains active also still propylene glycol monostearas and propylene glycol and white wax. The latter is less important but by use of propylene glycol the corticosteroid can be dissolved. This is beneficial for resorption and homogeneity. Both are extremely important. That is why we propose:

Betameth Diprop 19.2 mg, Proyleenglycol 3 g (as Solvent), glycerinemonostearate (GMS) 1.5 g as W/O emulsifier (i.e. not GMS PB V) and Vaseline up to 30 g.
