Glycolsalicylate and capsitic oil resin are lacking. Are there any alternatives?

I get from a patient the question whether I can make the following preparation: Glycolsalicylate 5g; Synthetic camphor 2, 5g; Capsitic Oleoresin 1g; Methylnicotinate 1g; Lanolin 10g; Cetyl Ointment 50g (There was no ad 50g, but I would think that is the intention?) DT 100g Glycolsalicylate and capsitic oil resin are no longer available. I don't know what the best alternative is for both. I'm guessing on methylsalicylate for glycolsalicylate, but Capsitic seems to me to be really difficult to replace without sacrificing effect.

Answer

For glycolsalicylate you should take methylsalicylate; but again you will be in efficacy.

For Capsicumoliehars you might take capsaicin. You must check how much capsaicin is in the Oleoresina and convert it. I expect a small amount. The only solvent is alcohol. So I would measure 10 g   alcohol   and dissolve capsaicin, camphor and methylnicotinate and add this solution to methylsalicylate.   Then you need to prepare the required amount of cetyl ointment together with 10 g of wool fat. When this liquid mixture begins to become thickly viscous that one brings the mixture glycolsalicylate and alcoholic solution   under good mixing   into the still liquid ointment mass. One rotates to cooling to room temperature.
