When processing methylsalicylate in Carbopol gel, a clear gel is obtained, but methylsalicylate and/or water from the gel occurs.

I suspect that you obtain a clear gel with a Carbopol gel that contains isopropanol. A composition is found in the NF. In any case, there is one mentioned in my booklet "Galenic Formularium".
