I would like to have had some help with the following preparation: Oestradiolvaleraat 1% sodium lauryl sulfate 1.5% rubbing alcohol AD 100%

After dissolving (by light heating) a flake-like white "precipitation" arises... Would it help me to use methanol instead of disinfectant alcohol (cf solubility in Martindale)?

Answer

The use of methanol is not advisable. The problem begins, of course, with the substitution of the valerate for oestradiol.

  1. use Tween 80 instead of Nalaurylsulf. 5 à 10% Check what happens when you mix a small amount (50 mg) Oestradiolvaleraat with 250 à 500mg Tween 80; Solve it?
  2. either add castor oil 10 à 20% idem 50mg Oestradiolvaleraat mix with 1g castor oil? Solves it?

Hopefully one of the two proposals succeeds. Nevertheless, best dermatologist inquire about the possible modification of the formula!! Both interventions can have an influence on resorption. Now also the switch-over of estradiol on estradiol valerate is a serious change as far as therapeutic activity is concerned. I know there is no choice. But also this is important to report to the doctor!
