Minoxidil 5% Lotion in spray

Is there a formula 5% lotion, with less alcohol in than the Alopexy 5%? The patient complains to us of red, itchy scalp... But he is satisfied with the result! We also tried the Bassron foam base, not a good result, but also a greasy mess on your head...

Answer

you ask with less alcohol than Alopexia 5%. But do we know how much alcohol is in this product? Personally, I feel that earlier propylene glycol is the cause of the reaction   on the scalp.   I have found the following formula: Minoxidil 5, 0g, isopropyl palmitate 1, 0g, Cremophor 2.5 g, propylene glycol 15.0 g, ethanol 70% to 100 g     as part of your comment, I would omit propylene glycol and possibly replace it with ethanol 94 °. This will of course be even more alcohol!     Maybe also helps the replacement of Cremophor by Cetomacrogol 5%     Should the hypersensitivity be due to the ethanol then it becomes difficult. The best solvent for minoxidil is methanol but.........,?   the possibility of converting minoxidil into a water-soluble derivative, but then we work with a salt instead of the base.
