A solution with Oestradiolvaleraat Oestradiolvaleraat 1% sodium lauryl sulfate 1.5% disinfectant alcohol AD 100%

After dissolving (by light heating) a flake-like white "precipitation" arises... Would it help me to use methanol instead of disinfectant alcohol (cf solubility in Martindale)?

Answer

I wouldn't use methanol in a pharmaceutical preparation anyway. With Oestradiol, preparing a solution would not be a problem. For your composition I would:
  1. use Tween 80 instead of Nalaurylsulf. 5 à 10%.
Check what happens when you mix a small amount (50 mg) Oestradiolvaleraat with 250 à 500 mg Tween 80; Solve it?
  2. either add riciinusolie 10 à 20%.
Idem 50 mg Oestradiolvaleraat mix with 1g castor oil? Solves it? Preparation is not too greasy???

Hopefully one of the two proposals succeeds. Nevertheless, best dermatologist inquire about the possible modification of the formula!! Maybe he has an objection? Both interventions can have an influence on resorption.
now also switching from estradiol to estradiol valerate is a serious change as to the therapeutic activity. I know there is no choice. But also this is important to report to the doctor!
