Is there a risk of explosion when preparing (should kwikoxycianide not only be dissolved in water)?

Dose of kwikoxycianide not too high? Can potassium nitrate be replaced?

Answer

The concentration of HgOCN is 0.5% which is by no means too high. I see no risk of explosion considering you are going to dissolve the product in water. I do not think there is any reason to replace KNO3; Apparently it is available as raw material? Given the toxicity, we have the habit of coloring HgOCN solutions blue with a tiny amount of methylene blue so that she is not drunk!
