We need to make a vaginal cream with estradiol valerate 0.1%, clindamycin 1% and Miconazole nitrate 1% in Cetomacrogolcreme.

Can clindamycin HCl be used in buffered cetomacrogolcreme instead of the more expensive clindamycin phosphate and how long is the preparation sustainable in both cases?

Answer

The exchange of Clindamycinphosphate by Clindamycinhydrochloride will presumably have some influence on the pH of the cream. The shift to the sour side will not be very high. A shelf life of 2 months, kept in the refrigerator, is feasible.
