There are two types of glucose testing in pregnant people. The first being a challenge test; The second a tolerance test.

- The most common test is the challenge test for which 50g glucose or 55g of glucosemethyl hydrate is delivered. Glucosemethyl Hydrate is less hygroscopic as glucose. And also less expensive???
- for a tolerance test, larger quantities, ranging from 75 to 100g glucose, are prescribed by the gynecologist.
