In What basis is ketamine 10% creme best processed If Beeler basis fails?

We got the question in which basis one could process the ketamine 10% cream. On the site of Qualenica (http://www.qualenica.be/vraagbox/wat-doe-ik-met-een-voorschrift-voor-een-penetrerende-zalf-die-bevat-ketamine-10-clonidine) We had found that this could be best processed in an image base, as the PLOgel can no longer be obtained. The pharmacist called us back today with the remark that this base is completely whacked. What can I recommend now? Maybe make with a Carbomeergel? Perhaps also a not so greasy base as this should be applied to the neck and scalp. Pentravan cream would be too expensive...

Answer

In the already published answer to the question, to which you refer, it is clearly stated that the image base after adding the ketamine with NAHCO3 solution should be neutralised to pH = 6.5 to 7 to convert the ketamineHCl to base > this Promotes the uptake but also the incompatibility between ketamine + and lauryslphate-

Personally I do not classify image base until the oily O/W emulsifying knife does not occur in the FAT phase > see Galenic Formularium (maybe still in your possession??

If you want to use a gel then Carbomeergel is   not a good proposal as gel base in this case considering we have the incompatibility + against-you can of course use a non-ionogenic gel. But those are sticky.

I can fully agree that Pentravan costs pieces of people and this does not apply only to Pentravan.
